Hajimete no Gal's Meguru Ueno Launches New Manga on July 13

Otaku no Tonari wa Elf desu ka? centers on unpopular boy with elf neighbor

Manga creator Meguru Ueno revealed on their Twitter account on July 2 that they will launch a new manga titled Otaku no Tonari wa Elf desu ka? (Does an Elf Live Next Door to You?) in this year's 33rd issue of Kodansha's Young Magazine on Saturday. The manga will have a color opening page, and the first chapter will have 37 pages.

The manga is set in the near future, where Japan has made contact with an alternate fantasy world. The manga centers on an unpopular boy named Keita Inudō, and the story begins when a high elf knight moves into the apartment next to his.

Ueno launched the Hajimete no Gal manga in Kadokawa's Monthly Shōnen Ace magazine in November 2015, and Kadokawa published the eighth compiled book volume on March 25.

The manga inspired a television anime adaptation that premiered in July 2017. Crunchyroll streamed the anime as it aired with the title My First Girlfriend is a Gal. Funimation streamed a simuldub for the anime and released the series on home video last August.
