Apple revealed on Tuesday that Square Enix will launch Various Daylife, a new role-playing game by the same team who worked on the Bravely Default and Octopath Traveler games, for the Apple Arcade service.

Apple describes the game:

In the year 211 of the Imperial Era, players explore a newly discovered continent while living life to the fullest in the city of Erebia.

Apple announced during its Apple Special Event on Tuesday that Apple Arcade will be available on the App Store for iOS 13 on September 19. Apple Arcade will then be available on September 30 on iPadOS and tvOS 13, and in October on macOS Catalina. A subscription to Apple Arcade costs US$4.99 per month, and it grants users unlimited access to the entire catalog of over 100 new, exclusive games. More games will launch on the service every month. The games are playable offline on iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, and Apple TV.

Square Enix launched Octopath Traveler worldwide in July 2018 for the Nintendo Switch and on June 7 for PC via Steam. At the beginning of the game, players choose one of the characters to follow, but can meet the others along the way. Players can swap recruited characters into their party of four at taverns. All stories are accessible via one playthrough.

Square Enix had announced in March that it is producing a new smartphone RPG in its Octopath Traveler game series titled Octopath Traveler Tairiku no Hasha (Octopath Traveler: Ruler of the Continent). The game's story takes place in the same Orsterra continent as the original game, but is set a few years before the start of the story. Square Enix will launch the game this year, and it will be free to play with optional in-game purchases for items. Square Enix also hinted at a new console game in the series.

Square Enix released the original Bravely Default: Flying Fairy game for the Nintendo 3DS in October 2012. An enhanced version of the game, titled Bravely Default: For the Sequel in Japan, shipped in Japan on the Nintendo 3DS in December 2013 and in North America in February 2014. Square Enix released the Bravely Second: End Layer Nintendo 3DS sequel game in Japan in April 2015, in Europe in February 2016, and in North America in April 2016.
