Webtoon-Based Youth Romance Live-Action Series Searching for Male Lead to Debut on June 27

Korean streaming platform Wavve has confirmed the exclusive launch of its upcoming youth romantic comedy live-action series Searching for Male Lead, set to premiere on June 27. The series will air in weekly batches of two episodes over a span of three weeks.
Adapted from the webtoon of the same name, Searching for Male Lead follows a college freshman, Seol-lem Oh, who enrolls in university to track down her missing in-game fiancé “FallenExcalibur.” As she navigates campus life, she becomes entangled in a modern-day love triangle involving both her virtual partner and a potential real-life connection.
The cast includes So-won Gal in the lead role of Seol-lem Oh. Jin-woo Lee — a member of K-pop boyband GHOST9 — and Jun-ho Cha — a member of K-pop boyband DRIPPIN — portray the two male leads.
Searching for Male Lead will be released exclusively on Wavve every Friday, beginning June 27. A streaming platform in North America has not yet been decided.
The webtoon, drawn by Janbi, was serialized between 2021 and 2022 on Naver Webtoon. Currently, the webtoon is not available in English.
