Moyoco Anno's Go Happy Mania Manga Ends on October 8
posted on by Joanna Cayanan

The manga launched in Feel Young in September 2019. Shodensha published the manga's first compiled book volume in 2020, and the fifth volume in August 2024.
Anno previously published a one-shot sequel chapter to the Happy Mania manga in Feel Young in July 2017. In that chapter, Shigeta and Takahashi are married but are approaching a divorce crisis. The Go Happy Mania started with the same story as the one-shot sequel.
The original manga ran from 1995 to 2001 in Feel Young. Tokyopop published all 11 volumes in English, and described the story:
Shigeta is an attractive and "physically active" female looking for her soulmate in all the wrong places. In this day and age, love is a game people play to gain an advantage over others. Sincerity and honesty are often thrown by the wayside in an effort to get to the top. However, there are those - like Shigeta - who still look for true love in spite of it all.
Viz Media published Anno's Flowers and Bees manga in North America, Del Rey published her Sugar Sugar Rune manga, and Vertical published her Sakuran manga. Anno also designed characters for her husband Hideaki Anno's Cutie Honey live-action film adaptation, which Bandai Entertainment released on DVD.
The Japan Anima(tor)'s Exhibition's (Japan Animator Expo) project released an anime short adaptation of Anno's Bikachō Shinshi Kaikoroku (Memoirs of Amorous Gentlemen) manga in 2015.
Anno's Sugar Sugar Rune manga in July received a 20th anniversary "Sugar Sugar Rune Les deux sorcières" anime short. "Sugar Sugar Rune Les deux sorcières" serves as a prologue to the original manga. Production on a separate, full-fledged anime project using similar CG animation has also been green-lit. Sugar Sugar Rune inspired a television anime adaptation in 2005.
