Keigo Hayasaka launched slice-of-life manga in Japan in September 2019

AI localization company Orange Inc. announced on Friday that its emaqi e-bookstore service has added Keigo Hayasaka's Sabae is Just a Friend, Maybe (Sabae to Yattara Owaru) manga in English.

emaqi describes the story:

Uji, a college student, is best friends with Sabae, a tomboyish and rough-around-the-edges girl. One day, while having drinks together for some dating advice, Uji unexpectedly finds himself aroused by Sabae's surprisingly large breasts... Will he choose friendship or lust? College life teetering on the edge begins!

Hayasaka launched the manga in Shinchosha's Kurage Bunch in September 2019. The company shipped the 19th compiled book volume of the manga on September 9. Update: That volume revealed that the manga will end in its 20th volume, which will ship in January.

A live-action adaptation of the manga aired on Tokyo MX in August 2024.

Orange launched the emaqi service in the United States and Canada in September 2024. The emaqi platform featured about 6,000 volumes of manga from 13 publishers in its launch, with plans to add at least one new title previously unpublished in English every week. Orange Inc. announced that it has secured translation, publishing, and distribution rights from publishers including Shonengahosha, Futabasha, and Akita Publishing. The company also acquired distribution rights from Kodansha USA Publishing.

emaqi launched an app version in the United States and Canada last May. emaqi has stated that its goal is to add 100 manga that have previously never had an English release by the end of this year.
