Funimation Entertainment Announces November Release of First Blu-Ray Title

Dragon Ball Z Movie Double Feature Showcased In
High-Definition Blu-Ray Disc™ Format

San Diego, CA, July 25, 2007 – At this year's San Diego Comic-Con International, FUNimation Entertainment, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Navarre Corporation, is announcing that it is bringing the next generation entertainment to anime fans and will release its first high-definition home entertainment product on Blu-ray disc. Dragon Ball Z blasts onto Blu-ray with two Broly movies: Broly: The Legendary Super Saiyan and Broly: Second Coming, two of the largest selling DBZ movies of all time.
“After seeing demos of each next generation platform, it was clear that the Blu-ray platform was ideal for FUNimation,” said Ward Thomas, Senior Vice-President of Sales and Operations at FUNimation Entertainment. “The capabilities of the Blu-ray technology allows our fans to enjoy their favorite FUNimation titles like never before.”
These two movies have been remastered in high-definition, digitally restored and enhanced with an all-new 5.1 surround sound mix. The video has been transferred directly from the original 35mm Japanese film creating a higher visual quality to match the dynamic action seen in the series and movies. All the special features on the disc are in full 1920 x 1080p HD, including a featurette about the restoration, remastering and high definition processes called “Dragon Ball Z: A New Look.”
Dragon Ball Z Broly: The Legendary Super Saiyan and Broly: Second Coming (TVPG) hit shelves November 13, 2007.
After Dragon Ball Z Broly: The Legendary Super Saiyan and Broly: Second Coming, FUNimation Entertainment will start releasing high definition versions of some of its most popular catalog titles in the U.S. Further details, including street dates and pricing, will be released at a later date.

About Blu-Ray Disc
Blu-ray Disc is the next-generation optical disc format for high-definition video and high-capacity software applications. A single-layer Blu-ray Disc will hold up to 25GB of data, and a double-layer Blu-ray Disc will hold up to 50GB of data. A standard definition DVD holds less than 10GB by comparison. This greater storage capacity enables the Blu-ray Disc to store up to five times the amount of content than is possible with current DVDs, and is particularly well suited for high definition feature films with extended levels of additional bonus and interactive material. Blu-ray Disc is supported by the world's leading consumer electronics, personal computer and gaming companies.
Blu-ray Discs deliver a truly unique high-definition viewing experience with a crystal-clear 1920x1080p picture (the number "1080" represents 1,080 lines of vertical resolution, while the letter "p" stands for progressive scan) and astounding 5.1 channel surround and 48 kHz, 24-bit uncompressed audio.
Consumers will benefit from Blu-ray Disc's improvements over current DVD technology including enhanced menu navigation, increased capacity for bonus features and new interactive capabilities.

Blu-ray Disc can deliver entertainment content in full high-definition (HD), under a secure environment made possible through advanced copyright protection technology. Blu-ray Disc playback products are expected to be backward compatible with the current DVDs, allowing continued enjoyment of existing DVD collections.
