Hamamatsu City x Evangelion: Shin Hamamatsu Plan – Now Underway
The year 2025 marks the 20th anniversary of the merger of 12 municipalities that created today's Hamamatsu City. It is also the 30th anniversary of the television debut of the globally beloved anime Neon Genesis Evangelion. To celebrate both milestones, Hamamatsu City has launched the SHIN HAMAMATSU PLAN, a citywide initiative that invites fans to explore Evangelion-themed exhibits and events across the city—which served as the backdrop for key scenes in the anime's final film.
The program is aimed at international tourists and anime fans visiting Japan during the 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo. Hamamatsu hopes to showcase its unique appeal by blending the world of Evangelion with Hamamatsu's rich cultural, natural, and tourism resources—particularly in Tenryu Ward, one of the model locations for “Village-3” in Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 THRICE UPON A TIME. Come experience Hamamatsu through the lens of the Evangelion universe.
