Kaiser & Jeanne discuss why both remain Orelans knights in video

The official website for the Rage of Bahamut: Virgin Soul television anime, the sequel to 2014's Rage of Bahamut: Genesis, began streaming the anime's second "short story" video on Tuesday. The video shows Kaiser as a knight commander sparring with Jeanne, and sharing the reasons they remained as Orleans knights in the aftermath of the events of the first anime.

The site streamed the first story video in December. It focuses on Favaro and Kaiser between the events of the first and second series. It features Megumi Hayashibara as Favaro's mother.

Rage of Bahamut: Virgin Soul will premiere in April, and will will run for two cours (quarters of a year). The story takes place 10 years after the world escaped destruction due to the revival of Bahamut. Humans at the royal capital gather wealth, the demons are enslaved to assist with the capital's revival, and the gods lose their power due to a decrease in religious piety. The world is thrown off balance as humans, gods, and demons hold their own ideas of justice.

The new cast members include:

Sumire Morohoshi (Haikyu!!'s Hitoka Yachi, Aikatsu!'s Ichigo Hoshimiya) as Nina Drango, a girl who comes to the royal capital as a bounty hunter. The people there love her for her bright and lively personality.

Yuichiro Umehara (Girlish Number's Gojō Karasuma, Seraph of the End's Rene Simm) as Charioce XVII, a cruel king who will stop at nothing to achieve his goals. He is not afraid of gods or demons, and he wields a forbidden power stolen from gods.

Returning cast members include:

Hiroyuki Yoshino as Favaro Leone

Go Inoue as Kaiser Lidfard

Masakazu Morita as Azazel

Miyuki Sawashiro as Rita

Hiroshi Iwasaki as Bacchus

Showtaro Morikubo as Hamsa

Megumi Han as Jeanne D'arc

Keiichi Satou (Tiger & Bunny, Asura) is returning from the first season, Rage of Bahamut: Genesis, to direct the series, and Shizuka Ōishi (Futarikko, Ōdorī live-action series) is writing the scripts. Naoyuki Onda (Gantz, Hiiro no Kakera) is returning to design the characters, and Goki Nakamura (Berserk: The Golden Age Arc I - The Egg of the King, Baku Tech! Bakugan) will again serve as art director. Yoshihiro Ike (Tiger & Bunny, Kuroko's Basketball) is returning to compose the music. Mappa (Garo: Crimson Moon, Snow White with the Red Hair) is again producing the animation.

Additional staff members include:

  • Director of Photography: Yusuke Tannawa
  • VFX Supervisor: Maki Morikawa
  • Effects Animation: Takashi Hashimoto
  • Color Plan: Osamu Mikasa
  • CG Director: Takayuki Ito
  • Editor: Kiyoshi Hirose
  • Sound Director: Keiichi Satou

Funimation, licensed the anime and describes the first season's story:

Two thousand years ago, the black-and-silver-winged dragon, Bahamut, terrorized the magical land of Mistarcia. The humans, god, and demons that inhabited the land united forces against the fiend and sealed its power into a key which was split in two, one half protected by gods and the other protected by demons. Now, Mistarcia is a peaceful realm – until a human woman steals the god's half of the key.

The Rage of Bahamut: Genesis television anime is inspired by Cygames' Rage of Bahamut mobile game. It premiered in October 2014, and Funimation streamed the series as it aired. The Rage of Bahamut: Manaria Friends spinoff series of shorts was green-lit, and was slated to premiere in April. However, the series has been delayed indefinitely, and the official website removed the entire staff listing.
