Under the pseudonym Bee-Craft, Akutsu has been providing mecha design art for Bandai's Gundam model kits for years before he signed on as a designer for the Gundam Seed anime and manga. He provides the mecha redesigns which the "High Grade Universal Century" model kits are based on, as well as mechanical detail illustrations, based on Hajime Katoki's mecha redesigns, for the "Master Grade" kit instruction manuals.
