Namco Bandai Games began streaming the second nine-minute promotional video for its anime crossover role-playing game Heroes Phantasia on Thursday. The game assembles characters from 10 anime: Orphen, Rune Soldier, R.O.D -Read or Die-, s-CRY-ed, Sgt. Frog (Keroro Gunsō), My-HiME, Blood+, Darker than Black, Darker than Black: Ryūsei no Gemini, and Slayers Revolution.
Namco Bandai Games also revealed that the game's limited edition will contain a second disc that will allow the player to engage in "free battle" mode and hear in-game story events with all available voices. The disc will contain a "digital museum" with narration by the game's original character Michie Sawada (voiced by Hisako Kanemoto). Kadokawa Shoten's Newtype magazine editors are putting together a 60-page Newtype Heroes Phantasia Edition supplement with articles covering the game's 10 anime titles, including some exclusive content. Finally, the limited edition will contain a soundtrack CD with the game's opening edit of Angela's theme song "The Lights of Heroes" and other tracks. The first release of the regular and limited editions will include product codes to download four different custom PSP themes (Heroes Phantasia, Opening Animation, Original Character, Angela Collaboration).
In the story, troubling incidents occur all over the modern world. People known as Native Alters with strange powers instigate anti-social acts. Monstrous creatures called Orphan meddle in human society. Chiropterans cause a rash of vampire-related murders. Resurrected historical figures attack the U.S. Library of Congress. Several organizations rise up to counter these threats and maintain peace and order: Holy, HiME, Red Shield, and the Special Operations Division of the British Library.
Meanwhile, the dimensional walls around the parallel world Adoroasu have collapsed, and all kinds of monsters have also appeared in that world. However, the fall of the dimensional walls also ushered in a band of heroes: Orphen, Louie, and Lina Inverse. The story gradually unfolds across these two worlds.
The game will ship for the PSP portable system in Japan on January 19.
