Miyuki Sawashiro's Little Brother Breaks into the Voice Acting Scene

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Successful voice actress Miyuki Sawashiro has landed roles as the titular characters in Lupin III: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine and Beelzebub, Suruga Kanbaru in Nisemonogatari, Saeko Busujima in Highschool of the Dead, Ultear in Fairy Tail, and many more. Now it looks like her younger brother Chiharu will be trying his hand in the voice acting industry.

Chiharu will be appearing in Arc System Work's adventure RPG Tokyo Twilight Ghosthunters as Masamune Shiga, a smart-ass support character that talks to the hero through a radio. The character marks Chiharu's debut as a voice actor, although he has previous acting experience working on stage with the theater group "Dead Stock Unit," and is credited for an episode of the anime Dog & Scissors.

Famitsu recently interviewed Chihiro about his debut and his elder sister. Chihiro mentioned that Miyuki has been in voice acting since she was in middle school. At first he wasn't aware of it because voice acting didn't have the exposure at the time that it does now, but his classmates started asking him about his sister as voice acting became more popular. Chihiro was also satisfied working as a stage actor in the beginning but by his sophomore year of college he began wondering if that's all he wanted to do.

He admitted his closeness to the industry through his sister is a plus, but training school through his agency (Mausu Promotion) was still difficult. Miyuki supported him through school. When they aren't working, the siblings like to go shopping together.
