Dennō Coil's Iso, Eva, Geass R2 Win Anime Kobe Awards

The judging committee of the 13th Animation Kobe Awards has announced this year's award winners on Wednesday. The awards are among the most prestigious industry accolades in Japanese animation and media.

Individual Award

Mitsuo Iso (director and creator of Dennō Coil)

Special Award

Masaki Tsuji (writer for Jungle Emperor, Cutey Honey, Tiger Mask, Hakaba Kitarō, Himitsu no Akko-chan)

Theatrical Film Award

Evangelion: 1.0 You Are [Not] Alone (Khara)

Television Award

Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2 (Sunrise)

Network Award

Miku Hatsune (Crypton Future Media)

Theme Song Award

The 13th Annual Animation Kobe event will hold an awards ceremony on November 2 in the city of Kobe in western Japan. The judging committee is composed of experts in the industry — notably the editors of animation and media magazines such as Animage, Animedia, Newtype, Comtiq, Weekly ASCII, and MdN. Previous winners have included Hideaki Anno, Hayao Miyazaki, Isao Takahata, Ghost in the Shell, Paprika, Princess Mononoke, Cowboy Bebop, Fullmetal Alchemist, Key the Metal Idol, Voices of a Distant Star, Phatasy Star Online, Final Fantasy XI, Second Life, Fujiko F. Fujio, Leiji Matsumoto, and the theme songs to the Fruits Basket and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya television series.
