Nanana's Buried Treasure Anime's New Promo, Supporting Cast Unveiled

posted on by Karen Ressler

The official website for the Ryūgajō Nanana no Maizōkin (Nanana's Buried Treasure) television anime began streaming a new "Tensai & Daruku" version of the 15-second promotional video on Friday. In the video, Tensai claims that there is a new show coming out starring her, and Daruku calls her a liar. The show will premiere in April.

In addition, the website announced three more cast members:

Kana Asumi (Hidamari Sketch's Yuno) as Tensai Ikkyū, a self-proclaimed famous detective girl

Kana Hanazawa (Nisekoi's Onodera) as Daruku Hoshino, Tensai's attendant

Kazuyuki Okitsu (Arpeggio of Blue Steel's Chihaya) as Isshin Yūga, the third president of the school's adventure club

The three join previously announced cast members Rui Tanabe as Nanana Ryūgajō, and Yūki Ono as Jūgo Yama.

Kazuma Ōtorino's original novel centers around the treasure of Nanana, a ghost who was once a beautiful but NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training) girl. A boy named Jūgo was disowned by his father and forced to transfer to a high school on the "Special Student Zone," an artificial island. With only 40,000 yen (about US$400) a month to live on, Jūgo chooses a low-rent apartment that happens to be haunted by Nanana. Jūgo and members of the school's adventure club join a "treasure hunt royale" on the island for the Nanana Collection, a treasure that possesses a mysterious power.

Kanta Kamei (Bunny Drop, Tales of Vesperia ~The First Strike~, Oreshura) will direct the series, and Hideyuki Kurata (Read or Die, Samurai Flamenco, Oreimo) will handle the series composition. Additionally, Tetsuya Kawakami (chief animation director and sub-character design for Sword Art Online) will adapt Akaringo's novel illustrations for animation, and Keigo Hoashi (Dusk maiden of Amnesia) and monaca (Star Driver, Wagnaria!!, Aikatsu!) will handle the music. A-1 Pictures will animate the series. The studio previously animated a promotional video for the novel in December 2011.

Ōtorino and Akaringo launched the novel series in January 2012, and the sixth novel shipped on December 26. The novel won the top prize in the 13th Enterbrain Entertainment Awards in September 2011. In addition to the novel, Hitoshi Okuda launched a manga version in Kadokawa's Famitsu magazine in January 2012, and Enterbrain published the second compiled volume in March. The first volume of a spinoff novel series, Tensai's Reluctant Deduction, shipped in August.

Additionally, Hakusensha's new Hana to Yume: Bunkei Shōjo manga magazine launched another manga adaptation by Modomu Akagawara on December 20.
