Livedoor News reported on Wednesday that the Nintendo Switch games Pirate Anime Quest: One Boys' Journey, A Piece of Island Love and Pirate Anime Quest: One Girls' Journey, A Piece of Island Love by Red Fables have been removed from the Japanese My Nintendo Store. According to the article, the games are strikingly similar to the popular anime and manga franchise One Piece in both art and story.

The description of the games by Red Fables states:

Navigate through mysterious waters aboard a ship where danger, longing, and secrets pulse with every wave.
Meet irresistible pirates, each with their own wild magnetism and hidden scars, and stand by them not just in their adventures... but through the emotional storms they carry within.
Through provocative questions, strategic combinations of magical fruits, and intense moments, unlock daring images and endings as fiery as they are unpredictable.
Each pirate hides far more than their tattoos and challenging gazes reveal.
Can you truly read their deepest desires… and conquer their untamed heart?

The Livedoor article also notes that according to STEAM, Red Fables includes AI-generated content in its other games. Red Fables reports the “use of AI for color enhancement, lighting, and character posing, combined with Adobe suite programs for the final touch,” on several of its games available on STEAM. Red Fables has not stated whether AI was used in the development of the two Pirate Anime Quest games.

Livedoor News reached out to Nintendo for comment. “We have confirmed sales of these items have already been suspended. The items will gradually be hidden from customers,” Nintendo said. When pressed for why the games were removed from the My Nintendo Store, the game company stated, “We are not able to answer questions about the reasons or circumstances behind the withdrawal of the items.”

As of press time, Pirate Anime Quest: One Boys' Journey, A Piece of Island Love and Pirate Anime Quest: One Girls' Journey, A Piece of Island Love no longer appear on the Japanese My Nintendo Store. However, both games are still available on the U.S. My Nintendo Store after their Thursday launch.
