Japanese band King Gnu revealed their music video for their latest song "So Bad," created in partnership with animation studio A-1 Pictures and directed by OSRIN. The band stated that this was their "first-ever fully animated video." It features the animated versions of the band members.
King Gnu guitarist and vocalist Daiki Tsuneta commented in a press release, "I've always loved animation, and since the early days of my career, I've created works using animated expression whenever possible. Now, one of my dreams has come true—King Gnu's hand-drawn animation, brought to life by OSRIN and A-1 Pictures. I'm beyond grateful and thrilled—it's simply the best."
King Gnu's “So Bad” was created as the theme song for Universal Studio Japan's "Zombi de Dance" Halloween Horror Nights event. Their single launched on September 5.
The band first formed as Mrs.Vinci in 2013, later changing their name to Srv.Vinci. The band changed their name to King Gnu in 2017. The band released two albums independently before signing on to Ariola Japan and releasing their major debut album Sympa in January 2019.
The group have sung theme songs for such anime as Banana Fish ("Prayer X"), Ranking of Kings ("BOY"), Jujutsu Kaisen 0 ("Ichizu" and "Sakayume"), the second season of Jujutsu Kaisen ("SPECIALZ"), and the Detective Conan: One-eyed Flashback film ("TWILIGHT!!!").
