posted on by Wonhee Cho

The 2025 World Webtoon Awards, now in its second year, celebrated the best webtoon creations from around the world, strengthening Korea's position as the birthplace of webtoons. Roughly 1,400 titles competed for this year's honors, while 26 were nominated in September.
At the awards ceremony held on October 22 at Lotte Cinema World Tower in Seoul, the Grand Prize went to Mirae's Antique Shop by A-jin Koo. The occult-themed series, which has been serialized since 2020, follows a young shaman named Mirae who must stop the demon Baekmyeon from destroying the world, earning praise for its deeply Korean storytelling and supernatural flair.
Accepting the award, Koo said, “I was moved to tears watching the announcement video. This award gives me the strength to finish the story well.”
The Jury President's Award was presented to Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint, adapted from singNsong's hit web novel of the same name. The series, which has amassed 2.5 billion cumulative views and inspired a feature film and an upcoming anime, depicts a man who becomes the only person aware of the ending of a story that turns real.
The newly established Readers' Choice Award went to Debut or Die!, chosen entirely by fan votes. SOHEUN draws the series based on DS.Back's web novel.
The other eight winners of the "Main Awards" aside from Mirae's Antique Shop and Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint include:
- The Uncanny Counter
- Myst, Might, Mayhem
- Shidome no Otto (The Fourth Time's the Husband)
- Like Mother, Like Daughter
- Maru Is a Puppy
- Tears on a Withered Flower
- Father, Unrivaled
- Get Schooled
There is currently no official English version of Mirae's Antique Shop. Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint is available on WEBTOON digitally and via Ize Press in print, and Debut or Die! is available digitally on Tapas.
