The Korea Cartoonist Association and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced the five winners of the 2025 “Today's Korean Comics” awards on October 22. The honored works are Yard for Two, Rhythm and Baseball, The Long Way of the Warrior, The Unbelievable Cinema, and On the Way to Meet Mom.
Among them, The Unbelievable Cinema was recognized in the print-comic category, while the remaining four were webtoons.
Association president Il-sook Shin noted that the winning titles “once again prove the diversity and excellence of Korean webtoons, showing the creative power and potential of Korean comics as a future growth engine.”
First established in 1999, Today's Korean Comics is one of Korea's top three comic awards, alongside the Bucheon Manhwa Awards and the Korea Content Awards. Each winner receives the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award and a cash prize of 7 million Korean won (approximately US$5,000).
The awards ceremony will take place on November 3 during the annual Comics Day celebration.
While four of the winners are not available in English, fans can read On the Way to Meet Mom on WEBTOON. The webtoon, which was serialized in 2025, is created by GOMYANG.
