My Hero Academia Anime's 3rd Season Premieres April 7

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda

Manga artist Betten Court posted the cover for the third My Hero Academia: Vigilantes (Vigilante: Boku no Hero Academia Illegals) spinoff manga volume on Tuesday. The wraparound jacket band on the manga volume reveals that the third television anime season based on Kōhei Horikoshi's My Hero Academia manga will premiere on April 7. As previously announced, it will remain in the 5:30 p.m. timeslot on Saturdays that the second season held on YTV, NTV, and 27 other network affiliates. Funimation will stream the series.

Betten Court draws the art for My Hero Academia: Vigilantes, while Hideyuki Furuhashi pens the story. The third volume ships in Japan on Friday, and Viz Media releases the manga digitally.

The third season will feature the same staff, including director Kenji Nagasaki at BONES, scriptwriter Yousuke Kuroda, character designer Yoshihiko Umakoshi (with assistance by Hitomi Odashima), and composer Yuuki Hayashi. The new season will cover the forest school trip arc from Kōhei Horikoshi's original manga.

An upcoming anime film, titled My Hero Academia THE MOVIE, will premiere this summer. The movie will show the previously unrevealed past of a certain character, and will also feature the characters of Class A.

The anime's first 13-episode season premiered in April 2016, and the second 25-episode series premiered in April 2017. The manga has also inspired a spinoff manga series, as well as several video games. Bandai Namco Entertainment will release the My Hero Academia: One's Justice game in Japan for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch this year. Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe will release the game for the PS4, Switch, Xbox One, and PC this year.
