Trigun - Introduction

by Kyle Pope,
Trigun: Introduction

Want to get rich? All you have to do is find the man named Vash the Stampede aka The Humanoid Typhoon and bring him in, dead or alive. Succeed and you'll have yourself a cool $$60,000,000,000. However if you plan on taking up this offer please let me know in advance so I can arrange to be on the other side of the planet.

Well hot on the heels of the debut of Rurouni Kenshin on Toonami comes Trigun on Adult Swim. Ironic given how much these two shows have in common. Both shows follow the story of a man with a dark past who has sworn off killing yet their respective pasts keep coming back to haunt them. While Rurouni Kenshin takes place on Earth during Japan's Meiji Era, Trigun takes place on a distant planet in a distant future. It is a space western.

Originally Cartoon Network turned down Trigun when it was first offered to them due to the high amount of gunplay. However this was back before Adult Swim when Toonami was CN's only outlet for anime. Now with Adult Swim Trigun has a suitable outlet. It was long argued by fans after the debut of Cowboy Bebop that Trigun would be the perfect show to follow-up. Well sometimes wishes do come true. I'm still worried about Wolfwood though.

So the anime just keeps on coming. Fortunately this is another series where all the DVDs have been released. I just hope I can keep pace.
