While Hello Kitty Isn't A Cat, She Isn't Not A Cat, Either

With all of the commotion flitting around regarding Hello Kitty—or rather, Kitty White's identity, we're glad plenty of folks have been chasing down Sanrio for some clarification.

While Sanrio does insist that Kitty is a little girl, and definitely not a cat, she's at least not a human little girl. Or really, any particular type of little girl. She's simply an anthropomorphization or personification. She's not even, really, not a cat. Which is beginning to sound a little like semantics, in the same way that Mario is, apparently, not a human, but Homo nintendonus.
