Godzilla vs. Kaiju No. 8 Crossover Poster Revealed at Anime Expo

The Kaiju No. 8 franchise posted a Godzilla vs. Kaiju No. 8 crossover poster on July 7. The post noted that the two franchise's influential designer Mahiro Maeda created the art, which has a “dynamic illustration of Godzilla, the symbol of monster movies, facing off against the new-age monster tale, Kaiju No. 8.”

Studio Khara subsequently quote-reposted the crossover poster, saying, “A special collaboration illustration for Godzilla vs. Kaiju No. 8 by our company's Mahiro Maeda.” Khara also noted the poster was first revealed during the Kaiju No. 8 panel at Anime Expo.

Maeda designed monsters for the Kaiju No. 8 anime, and is also credited with the image design of Shin Godzilla's title monster as well as the film's conceptual image board art and storyboards. In addition to his contributions to works ranging from Nausicaä of the Valley of Wind and The Vision of Escaflowne to Kill la Kill and Mad Max: Fury Road, he personally directed Blue Submarine No. 6, Final Fantasy: Unlimited, Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo, parts of the Evangelion franchise, and The Animatrix's "Second Renaissance Part 1" and "Part 2."

Kaiju No. 8 season 2 is set to premiere on July 19 and will simulcast on X worldwide.
