Sumo Jockeys Join the Japan Racing Association's Latest Campaign

posted on by Carlos Cadorniga

It looks like race horses in Japan are about to get a serious workout on the racetrack.

The Japanese Racing Association is collaborating with the Japan Sumo Association to hold a special event: the Japan Sumo Derby.

This short promo released on May 17, along with the official site reveal very little about what this strange-sounding event entails. Regardless, the derby is already slated to open on Sunday, May 24.

Back in 2013, the JRA also participated in a strange collaboration with the popular anime, Attack on Titan. The "Attack on Grand Prix" was an online game that pitted horse-riding humans against Titans.
