Space Brothers Creator Introduces 3D Printer Studio, Workplace in French TV Program

The French television program toco toco began streaming its interview with Space Brothers manga creator Chūya Koyama on Sunday. In video, Koyama takes viewers to FabCafe Tokyo in Shibuya, a venue that specializes 3D printing. Visitors can watch their creations come to life using equipment at FabCafes in Japan, France, Thailand, and Taiwan. After exploring the FabCafe, Koyama introduces his studio where he works with five assistants to create the Space Brothers manga.
Koyama's manga's story follows two brothers, Mutta and Hibito, who made a vow as kids to travel to space. The younger brother Hibito did become an astronaut, but not Mutta. However, Mutta's life changes one fateful day. The manga inspired a live-action film, a television anime and an anime film.
The series won the Reader's Prize in the 18th Annual Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prizes, and was a top seller for the first half of 2014.
toco toco also interviewed veteran animator Manabu Oohashi, award-winning anime art director Shichirō Kobayashi and Urotsukidoji creator Toshio Maeda.
