Relive 20 Years of the Gust's Atelier Video Game Series

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Game developer Gust's Atelier game series is celebrating 20 years of weapon creating, monster fighting, fantasy goodness with Atelier Liddy & Sule: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Painting and Atelier Online: The Alchemist of Blasel games. Before you gear up to play the latest installments, let's take a look back at the previous games.

The Atelier series launched in 1997 with Atelier Marie: The Alchemist of Salburg for the original PlayStation console system. The series has since grown to star 14 different alchemists in the main series and several more in side series.

Character designer Mel Kishida worked on Atelier Rorona: The Alchemist of Arland, Atelier Totori: The Adventurer of Arland, and Atelier Meruru: The Apprentice of Arland but admitted he hit a designer block after those three installments.

The most recent game in the Atelier franchise is Atelier Firis: The Alchemist and the Mysterious Journey, which shipped for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita last November in Japan. Koei Tecmo America released the game in North America on March 7 on the PS4, and digitally on the PS Vita and the PC, and on March 10 in Europe for the same platforms. NIS America localized and released most of the previous games in the series, including Atelier Meruru, Atelier Totori, and Atelier Rorona.
