Pop Team Epic Manga Creator's Twitter Account Suspended

Pop Team Epic manga creator Bkub Okawa's Twitter account has recently been suspended. It appears Okawa has yet to publicly acknowledge the suspension, and there is no confirmation of the reason for the suspension.

However, online commenters are speculating about what might have caused Twitter to suspend the creator's account. Some commenters believe reports by Okawa's "haters" led to the suspension. Other commenters think controversial remarks by Okawa may be the cause. One commenter posted a screenshot of Okawa's tweet from June 2017 that includes a flippant remark about wanting to kill the person who thought of convenience store Lawson's spork-like utensils.

Net comments also included the sentiment that recent Twitter suspensions may be excessive, and some people noted that Okawa uses Twitter for work purposes to spread his four-panel manga. Several commenters also referenced the suspension of the Taekwondoer Park manga creator's account.

Okawa's surreal four-panel manga Pop Team Epic centers around two 14-year-old girls, the short Popuko and the tall Pipimi. Okawa launched the manga on the Manga Life Win website in 2014, and ended it in 2015. Takeshobo released the manga's first compiled book volume in print in 2015. Ōkawa launched the "second season" in February 2016, and ended it on April 30. Takeshobo released the second volume in June 2017. The manga started a "third season" last October.

The manga's television anime adaptation premiered on January 6. HIDIVE, Funimation, Crunchyroll, AsianCrush, and Amazon Prime Video all streamed the anime as it aired in Japan.

A new net anime in collaboration with Japan Racing Association has been green-lit.
