Evangelion Pachislot Game Themes Get Mini-Album

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Neon Genesis Evangelion's "Cruel Angel Thesis" is an anisong legend but for fans outside of Japan, there's a whole soundtrack of Eva songs that much harder to come by. Enter pachislot machines.

Pachislot (pachinko-parlor slot machine) are a round-about kind of gambling machine sort of like a cross between a pinball machine and a slot machine. Players rent small steel balls that are dropped into the device in the hopes of getting a larger pay out of more balls. These can be exchanged for tokens or prizes which can in turn be exchanged for cash at a location outside of the pachislot parlor. Modern pachislot machines are similar to electronic gambling machines that incorporate video elements, songs, and lots of flashing lights. There is a subset of video pachislot machines based on different anime franchises including Yuki Yuna Is a Hero, Milky Holmes, Yowamushi Pedal, High School DxD, and of course, Eva.

The Evangelion Extreme mini-album by Yoko Takahashi compiles the various theme songs from Eva pachislot games. The album has five tracks: "Akaki Tsuki" (Reddish Moon), "Shibashi Sora ni Inorite" (A Brief Prayer in the Sky), "Dōkoku e no Monologue" (Monologue of Wailing), and "Cruel Angel's Thesis 2009 Version." The fifth song is a karaoke track.

King Amusement Creative will release the Evangelion Extreme album on May 22 for 2,000 yen (US$18).
