5th Racehorse That Inspired Uma Musume Pretty Derby Character Passes Away

The horse girls of Uma Musume Pretty Derby are said to possess the spirits of (and share names with) famed racehorses. Unfortunately, many of those racehorses are advanced in age or have suffered injuries leading to their deaths. Since the anime's premiere last year, Special Week, King Halo, Vodka, and Hishi Amazon have passed on. This week, another horse was laid to rest.
The 27-year-old Biko Pegasus passed away on June 11, according to the official Uma Musume Twitter account. The racehorse was active on the Japanese circuit from 1993 to 1998 where it won 35.8 million yen in prize money.
Biko Pegasus was voiced by Aimi Tanaka in the Uma Musume Pretty Derby multimedia franchise. The character sings on the Starting Gate 10 music and drama CD.
