US$2.77 Million Replica of Princess Knight's Crown Goes on Display

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

A dazzling exhibition is heading to Tokyo's Ginza district this weekend. The "World's Only Jewelry Art Exhibition" will imagine the works of Osamu Tezuka, Riyoko Ikeda, Rumiko Takahashi, and more as 80 glittering works of jeweled art.

Perhaps the brightest piece in the collection is "Sapphire's Princess Crown," a recreation of the crown worn by the main character in Osamu Tezuka's Princess Knight manga and anime series. The replica will be on display for four days and that's no piece of glass mounted on its top. The royal headwear is adorned with a star sapphire and has an estimated value of 300 million yen (US$2.77 million).

The exhibit will include an accompanying necklace and a piece of Rose of Versailles art autographed by Ikeda. Both items will be available for purchase in limited quantities.

The exhibition opens on June 22 and will run until June 30 at the IDC Otsuka furniture store in Ginza.
