posted on by Egan Loo

Walt Disney Studios Japan announced that Isao Takahata and Studio Ghibli's The Tale of Princess Kaguya anime film will ship on Blu-ray Disc in Japan on December 3 for 6,800 yen (about US$65).

The Blu-ray will include subtitles in Japanese, English, French, Korean, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), as well as audio tracks in Japanese (linear PCM stereo and DTS-HD MasterAudio 5.1), English, French, Mandarin, and Cantonese. Video extras for the release will include storyboards, the recording script, the press conference announcing the film's completion, and a collection of trailers.

The 4,700-yen (about US$44) two-disc DVD version will only have subtitles in Japanese and English, as well as audio tracks in Japanese (linear PCM stereo and DTS-HD MasterAudio 5.1) and English. It will also lack the recording script.

GKIDS will release the film in North American theaters on October 17.
