Himōto! Umaru-chan's 2nd Mini Anime Episode Streamed

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Preview of series' opening theme song CD single also streamed

TOHO animation began streaming the second episode of the mini anime series "Himōto! Umaru-chanS" on Monday as a commercial for the Himōto! Umaru-chan television anime's first DVD and Blu-ray sets. The stream is available for 24 hours.

In the short, Umaru asks her friend Ebina what Akita prefecture is famous for (since Ebina was born in Akita), and she comes up with kiritanpo, iburi-gakko, yokote yakisoba, and other cuisine particular to Akita. When Umaru observes that it's all just food, Ebina replies that there's also the namahage costume and the Akita breed of dogs. Then Umaru gets Ebina to try different Akita costumes with moe appeal, in the hopes that by selling the image, she will earn enough money to laze around all day. Umaru ends the short by announcing that she is waiting for offers from anyone in Akita prefecture.

TOHO animation previously streamed the first "Himōto! Umaru-chanS" short on July 13.

The first Blu-ray and DVD will both contain the first two episodes of the television anime and the first two "Himōto! Umaru-chanS" shorts. They will also include an eye-catch illustration calendar, character song CD, and slipcase by character designer Aya Takano. Both will ship on September 16 in Japan.

TOHO also began streaming a preview for the Aimi Tanaka's single CD "Kakushin Teki Me Tamaru Fo~ze~!," which contains the series' opening theme song of the same name, the song "Sister's Wink," and instrumental versions of both songs.

The series premiered on July 8, and Crunchyroll is streaming the series as it airs. Sentai Filmworks licensed the series.

The sibling gag comedy manga centers around Umaru (voiced by Aimi Tanaka), Taihei's (Kenji Nojima) little sister who boasts beautiful looks as well as prowess in both school and sports. However, she has a certain secret. "Himōto" is a pun on "imōto" (little sister) and "himono," which means "dried fish," but in slang can refer to a woman who is proper in public but lazy at home.

Masahiko Ohta (Yuruyuri, Kotoura-san) is directing the series off scripts by Takashi Aoshima (Yuruyuri, Kotoura-san) at Dogakobo (Engaged to the Unidentified, Laughing Under the Clouds). Yasunori Ebina (Yuruyuri, Fruits Basket) is serving as sound director and Aya Takano (Polar Bear's Café) is designing the characters and serving as chief animation director.
