posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda

Manga creator Sakumi Yoshino passed away due to an unspecified sickness on April 20. She was 57.

Yoshino was born in Osaka on February 19, 1959. She debuted with her "Utsu Yori Sō ga Yoroshii no!" manga in Shueisha's Bouquet magazine in 1980. Following that, she debuted two other manga in Bouquet, including Shōnen wa Kōya o Mezasu (1985-1987), and Juliet no Tamago (1988-1989).

Her latest manga was period, which she launched in Shogakukan's Monthly Ikki magazine in 2004, and ended in 2014. Shogakukan published five compiled book volumes for the manga.

The June issue of Shogakukan's Flowers magazine posthumously published her one-shot manga "Itsuka Midori no Hanataba ni" on April 28. The same issue also included an interview with Yoshino as part of the magazine's 15th anniversary.

Her Yoshino Sakumi Gekijō essay manga was in serialization in Hon no Zasshisha's Hon no Zasshi literary magazine until her death.
