Seven Seas Licenses Cutie Honey A Go Go! Manga

Hideaki Anno collaborated on Shinpei Ito's 2003 manga based on Gō Nagai's story

Seven Seas Entertainment announced on Friday that it has licensed Shinpei Ito and Hideaki Anno's Cutie Honey a Go Go! (Cutie Honey a Go Go!) manga. The company plans to release the manga in a 386-page omnibus edition on September 26.

Seven Seas describes the manga:

Tokyo is under seige by the terrorist organization known as Panther Claw, and the beautiful superheroine android known as Cutie Honey appears on the scene to take them on—but fails! For her own protection, Cutie Honey must join forces with government agent Natsuko Aki, and pose as student and teacher at St. Chapel Academy. But there is nowhere to hide from Panther Claw and its leader's evil machinations!

Ito (Hyper Dolls, Taisho Baseball Girls) wrote and drew the manga with collaboration from Anno (Evangelion) beginning in 2003 in Kadokawa Shoten's Tokusatsu Ace magazine. The series is based on Gō Nagai's original 1970's Cutie Honey manga. Tokuma Shoten released the full series in one "complete edition" volume (pictured right) in 2007.

Anno also directed a live-action Cutie Honey adaptation and the Re: Cutie Honey original video anime in 2004.
