Usamaru Furuya's Shōnen-tachi no Iru Tokoro Manga Ends '1st Year' Arc

posted on by Karen Ressler
Short series launched in October

This 17th issue of Shinchosha's Go Go Bunch magazine published the final chapter of the "First Year in High School Arc" of Usamaru Furuya's Shōnen-tachi no Iru Tokoro (Where the Boys Are) manga last Friday. The compiled volume will ship on July 7. While the magazine did not confirm that the series would continue, the final chapter is labelled "The End...?" and has a message asking readers to expect Furuya's next work.

The manga launched in October after a preview chapter ran in the final volume of Furuya's Joshikōsei ni Korosaretai (I Want to be Killed by a High School Girl) manga in August. The story follows protagonist Kiri Sano, who wants to have an ordinary high school life. However, he falls in with Ryū Minamino, his classmate with a "best friend dependence," and the mysterious Subaru Narasaki. His days are not quite as normal as he hoped.

Furuya also recently launched a manga titled Amane Gymnasium in Kodansha's Morning two magazine in January.

Furuya's other manga works include Teiichi no Kuni, 51 Ways to Save Her, Genkaku Picasso, and Lychee Light Club. DC Comics' CMX Manga announced 51 Ways to Save Her, but did not release it before shutting down in 2010. Viz Media licensed Genkaku Picasso in 2010, and Vertical also licensed Lychee Light Club in 2010.
