The wraparound jacket band on ONE's 15th Mob Psycho 100 manga volume is revealing on Thursday that the manga will inspire a stage play adaptation. Voice actor Setsuo Ito will star in the play as Shigeo "Mob" Kageyama, reprising his role from the manga's television anime adaptation. The stage play will run from January 6-14, 2018 at The Galaxy Theater in Tokyo.
The volume also revealed that the manga will have an "anime event" that will have Reigen (Mob's master) in the "leading role." The event will take place at Chiba's Maihama Ampitheater on March 18, 2018.
Anime studio BONES, who worked on the manga's previous television anime adaptation, teased last week that the 15th manga volume will have new information when it ships on Thursday. The manga is also inspiring a live-action drama starring Tatsuo Hamada in January. TV Tokyo is producing the live-action show in collaboration with Netflix.
The original manga creator ONE (One-Punch Man) launched the Mob Psycho 100 series on Ura Sunday in 2012 and later in Shogakukan's MangaOne app in 2014. Shogakukan published the manga's 14th compiled book volume on April 19.
The anime adaptation of ONE's original manga premiered in Japan in July 2016 and Crunchyroll streamed the series with English subtitles as it aired in Japan. Funimation streamed an English dub for the anime last December.
Funimation describes the story:
Kageyama Shigeo (a.k.a. Mob) is an 8th grader with powerful psychic abilities. Workingunder his not-so-capable master, Reigen, Mob uses his powers to exorcise evil spirits. But his will to be normal causes him to suppress his powers and feelings until he hits 100 percent — a point where his pent-up emotions are unleased and a darker power takes over.
