Sentai Filmworks Licenses Scum's Wish Anime, Prepares English Dub

License includes home video, EST

Sentai Filmworks announced on Thursday that it has licensed the anime adaptation of Mengo Yokoyari's Scum's Wish manga. The company plans to release the series on home video, and via electronic sell-through in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa. An English dub is now in production

The series premiered in Japan on Amazon Prime Video and Fuji TV's Noitamina programming block in January 2017. Amazon Prime Video exclusively streamed the anime series in Japan and abroad, including in the United States as part of its now-defunct Anime Strike service.

Sentai Filmworks describes the story:

At first glance, high school sweethearts Hanabi Yasuraoka and Mugi Awaya appear to have the perfect relationship and while the two enjoy each other's physical companionship, they are merely using each other to feel anything other than pain as both Hanabi and Mugi are in love with other people. As this tangled web of emotions continues to ensnare others, viewers are exposed to the painful side of love, making this series often difficult to watch yet impossible to look away.

Masaomi Andō (School-Live!, Undefeated Bahamut Chronicle) directed the anime series and Makoto Uezu (KONOSUBA, Akame ga KILL!, The Heroic Legend of Arslan) handled series composition at Studio Lerche (Monster Musume, School-Live!). Keiko Kurosawa (Re:␣Hamatora, Undefeated Bahamut Chronicle) designed the characters and served as chief animation director, and Masaru Yokoyama (BBK/BRNK, The Lost Village) composed the music.
