Compilation of TV series, OVA gets theatrical run on September 29

The "Girls und Panzer App & Anime Important Announcement Special" livestream event revealed on Thursday that the second film in the six-part Girls und Panzer das Finale film series will open in Japan in June 2019. The livestream also revealed a video for the new film.

The five cast members of the Anglerfish Team will appear at a stage event on November 18 and reveal more information about the film.

A Blu-ray Disc box that features all 12 episodes of the television anime as well as the Girls und Panzer: This is the Real Anzio Battle! original video anime (OVA) will ship in Japan on December 21. The set costs 25,000 yen (about US$225), and the pre-order period will close on November 13.

The livestream also revealed the new illustration that the Blu-ray Disc box will feature:

The livestream revealed that the two-hour Dai 63 Kai Sensha-dō Zenkoku Kōkōsei Taikai Sōshūhen (63rd National High School Sensha-dō Tournament Compilation), which compiles the television anime and OVA, will screen in 110 theaters in Japan beginning on September 29. In addition to regular screenings, the compilation will get 4DX and MX4D screenings. With the 4DX and MX4D systems, certain theaters have motion seats that move in sync with certain action sequences onscreen. Similarly, effects such as scents, wind, and mist operate in accordance with action onscreen.

The Blu-ray Disc and DVD release of the compilation shipped in Japan on February 23.

The first Girls und Panzer das Finale film opened in Japan at 59 theaters on December 9. As of January 18, the film had sold 425,236 tickets to earn 516,181,000 yen (US$4.66 million). The film features new characters from BC Freedom High School as they engage in a winter battle.

The Finale anime project will also have immersive 4DX and MX4D screenings, after the project's second episode ends its initial run of regular screenings. Each of the immersive screenings will combine two episodes; the first ones will combine the first and second episodes. The next set of immersive screenings will combine the third and fourth episodes, and the last set will combine the fifth and sixth episodes.

Sayaka Sasaki is performing the opening theme song "Grand symphony" for the first three episodes. Sasaki previously performed the "Anglerfish Dance" song that is part of the original television anime's story. ChouCho, who performed the opening theme song for the television anime and the 2015 film, is returning as the opening theme song artist for the project's last three episodes.

The Girls und Panzer der Film anime film followup to the original Girls und Panzer television anime opened in Japan in November 2015. As of August 13, the film had sold 1,454,048 tickets to earn 2,501,970,524 yen (about US$22.9 million).

Sentai Filmworks licensed the 2015 film, and the company collaborated with Eleven Arts to release the film theatrically in the United States in November 2016 with an English dub. Sentai Filmworks released the film on home video in May 2017.

The original television anime series aired for 12 episodes in 2012-2013. Sentai Filmworks released the series on home video.
