Aksys Games Streams 1st English Trailer for Jake Hunter Detective Story: Ghost of the Dusk Game

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
3DS game launches on September 28 with 5 cases previously unreleased in N. America

Aksys Games began streaming a trailer on Tuesday for its release of the Jake Hunter Detective Story: Ghost of Dusk (Tantei Jingūji Saburō: Ghost of the Dusk) Nintendo 3DS game.

Aksys Games will release the game on September 28. The game will retail for US$39.99, and Aksys Games is releasing the game both digitally and physically. The game will include five story cases that were previously unreleased in North America.

Aksys Games describes the story:

In Ghost of the Dusk, A homeless man's accidental death draws hard-nosed detective Jake Hunter into the shadow of a mysterious mansion—but all is not as it appears at the seemingly innocuous crime scene, and Jake can't shake the hunch that something is amiss. With the help of an old friend, Jake works to get to the bottom of the crime and uncover the true culprit's identity. But when the mansion's owner comes to Jake with a new proposal, things take a turn for the bizarre as dark secrets are forced from the shadows. Now, it's up to Jake to track down the source of the madness.

Arc System Works developed the game and released it in Japan on the Nintendo 3DS in August 2017. The game celebrates the Jake Hunter franchise's 30th anniversary.

The game series began in 1987 when Data East released Tantei Jingūji Saburō: Shinjuku Chūō Kōen Satsujin Jiken, the first game in the series, on the Nintendo Famicom. The series has since received various installments on consoles and phones. WorkJam began work on the series after Data East filed for bankruptcy in 2003. Aksys Games localized the Nintendo DS game Tantei Jingūji Saburō DS: Inishie no Kioku as Jake Hunter: Detective Chronicles in 2008, and rereleased the game under the title Jake Hunter Detective Story: Memories of the Past in 2009. The 2009 edition included more cases and new translations.

Arc System Works acquired the rights to the game series from WorkJam in February 2017. The company released the Tantei Jingūji Saburō: Prism of Eyes (Jake Hunter Detective Story: Prism of Eyes) game for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch in Japan on August 9.
