Kadokawa Reveals Maesetsu! Original Anime With Lucky Star Creator Kagami Yoshimizu

Yoshimizu draws 4-panel manga for project

The August issue of Kadokawa's Comptiq magazine revealed on Wednesday that Kadokawa is producing a new original anime titled Maesetsu! The project involves scriptwriter Shōta Gotō as a main staff member, and the members of the Freak! otaku-based comedy duo as cast members. Lucky Star manga author Kagami Yoshimizu is drawing a four-panel manga for the project, and also drew the below visual for the project.

The project will center on four girls at the height of their youth, attempting to achieve their dreams even as they struggle gallantly.

Yoshimizu put his Lucky Star manga on hiatus in 2014 due to a "new project" that was then under planning. Until then, the manga had been running in Comptiq since the magazine's January 2004 issue. Kadokawa has so far published 10 volumes for the manga.

Kyoto Animation produced a 2007 television anime adaptation and original video anime (OVA) for the manga. It also inspired the 2013's Miyakawa-ke no Kūfuku spinoff anime. Bandai Entertainment released part of the original Lucky Star manga, the television series, and the OVA in North America. Funimation later licensed and re-released the anime.
