Manga based on NisiOisin's novel series about eccentric boy detective squad debuted in April 2016

The August issue of Kodansha's Shonen Magazine Edge published the final chapter of the "first part" of NisiOisin and Suzuka Oda's Bishōnen Tanteidan (Handsome Detectives) manga series on Wednesday. The manga's fifth compiled book volume will ship on September 6.

The manga is based on NisiOisin's Bishōnen Series novels, and the manga takes its title from the series' first book, Bishōnen Tanteidan - Kimi Dake ni Kagayaku Ankokusei (Handsome Detectives - The Star of Darkness Shines Only on You). The first novel's story begins with protagonist Mayumi Dōjima, a troubled middle schooler at Yubiwa Academy. Mayumi meets and ends up employing the "Handsome Detectives," a group of five handsome but eccentric boys at school who claim to be able to solve any problem free of charge. The story features prominent appearances by Kyōko Okitegami, the protagonist of NisiOisin's Bōkyaku Tantei novel series.

The manga launched in Kdoansha's ARIA magazine in April 2016, and moved to Shonen Magazine Edge last October after ARIA ceased publication in April 2018. Kodansha published the manga's fourth volume in June 2018. The novel series began in 2015, and the ninth volume debuted last October.

Oda drew the manga adaptation of Manabu Kaminaga's Psychic Detective Yakumo novel series from 2014 to 2016. The original novel series was adapted into a television anime in 2010. Sentai Filmworks acquired the title in 2013, released it on DVD that year, and released it on Blu-ray Disc in 2014.
