Kakao Entertainment Rolls Out Free AI Short-Form Video Tool for Webtoon Creators

Kakao Entertainment has launched a new artificial intelligence tool that allows webtoon creators to convert their comics into short-form videos.
The company announced on October 1 that, since September 29, it has been offering the “Helix Shorts AI Agent” to creators free of charge. The technology automatically selects key scenes from a webtoon and transforms them into short clips of around 40 seconds.
Kakao Entertainment launched "Helix Shorts" on April 22 across all Kakao Page users.
Previously, the company selected specific titles itself to adapt into short-form videos for Kakao Page. Now, with the new tool, creators can directly generate and distribute their own videos.
The AI tool has first been distributed to content production partners producing Kakao Page-exclusive webtoons, with plans to expand availability further.
Completed short-form videos can be uploaded to Kakao Page, used on content production partners' company websites, or shared on external platforms such as YouTube.
