Hikaru Utada's 'Face My Fears' Co-written With Skrillex Announced As Opening Theme For Game 'Kingdom Hearts III'
Digital Release Slated For January 18, 2019 !
Hikaru Utada recently made a rare TV appearance on the TV special "Ultra FES 2018," for TV Asahi's hit music program "Music Station" and performed "Chikai," a track off of her latest and seventh album "Hatsukoi" and the theme song for the game created by Disney and Square Enix "KINGDOM HEARTS III."
We have news that, in fact, another theme song exists for "KINGDOM HEARTS III."
It's titled "Face My Fears," and co-written by the internationally famed electronic dance music producer Skrillex and Hikaru Utada.
Skrillex has been known to be a KINGDOM HEARTS fan, so Hikaru Utada asked him to do a remix of "Chikai." However, Skrillex proposed to make a new track together rather than a remix, and so the new co-written song came to be. "Face My Fears" is the collaboration between Skrillex, Poo Bear (who produced Justin Bieber's "What Do You Mean?"), and Hikaru Utada, and will be the opening theme for the new "KINGDOM HEARTS III."
In the past, the "KINGDOM HEARTS" series had adopted remixes of the ending theme as the opening theme, so the upcoming "KINGDOM HEARTS III" will be the very first in the series to have completely different tracks created for the opening and ending themes.
The opening theme "Face My Fears" and ending theme "Chikai" will each have Japanese and English versions, which will be released digitally on January 18, 2019. It will also be released on CD in Japan which will be Hikaru Utada's first CD single in 11 years, since "Prisoner of Love" in May 2008.
The latest trailer for the game is now available at https://youtu.be/LNzxgjIRXWk and the game booth at Tokyo Game Show 2018 on September 20 to 23 was swarming with excited game lovers. Fans all over the world are eagerly anticipating the game release in January next year!
