Anime "Dark Gathering" Season 2 announced! Teaser visual revealed, along with comments from the cast and staff!

The production of Season 2 of the new-style occult horror Anime Dark Gathering has been officially announced. Along with the news, a teaser visual has been unveiled—featuring Yayoi Hozuki with a piercing gaze looking down upon an evil spirit.

Comments celebrating the announcement have also arrived from the original creator Kenichi Kondō, director Ikehata Hiroshi, and main cast members Yū Sasahara, Nobunaga Shimazaki, Kana Hanazawa, and Rina Kawaguchi.

Based on the manga by Kenichi Kondō, currently serialized in Shueisha's Jump SQ., Dark Gathering is a gripping “evil-spirit capturing entertainment” series that has surpassed 2.5 million copies in circulation.

After losing her parents in a traffic accident, Yayoi Hozuki gained the ability to see spirits. Ever since, she has been searching for her mother's spirit, which was taken away by an evil entity during the accident. One day, she meets Keitaro Gentoga, a man with strong mediumship abilities, and decides to make him her tutor—dragging him into haunted locations in hopes of finding her mother.

To all the readers who have supported us, and to all the staff who have dedicated their time and effort to this project, I would like to express my deepest gratitude.

When I was drawing the Kyoto arc, I remember only thinking, “This is way too much...” But looking back now, I often find myself thinking, “Wow... I can't believe I actually drew this insane scene. That's wild,” if I may say so myself.

Now, this “wild” story is being brought to life by an amazing staff, with everything they've got. As the original author, I would be honored if you could look forward to the broadcast and future updates!

It's a second season. Not a split-cour continuation, but a true “we're making this because it was popular” Season 2.

That's something truly special and makes me extremely happy as a creator. This was only possible thanks to the fans in Japan and around the world who have loved Dark Gathering.

■Introduction

Keitaro Gentoga, a first-year student at Reiou University, once suffered from a spiritual affliction that caused harm to others and led him to shut himself away from society. In an effort to reintegrate, he begins working as a tutor—only to meet Yayoi Hozuki, a mysterious girl with unusual eyes.

Yayoi, who witnessed her mother's soul being taken by an evil spirit after a car accident, spends her days visiting haunted locations in search of clues.

Although Yayoi has strong spiritual power, spirits tend to avoid her—so she needs Keitaro, whose presence draws them in. Meanwhile, Keitaro aims to break the curse that binds both himself and someone dear to him, forming an unlikely partnership with Yayoi.

■Character Profiles

Yayoi Hozuki
An elementary school girl who can see both the living world and the spirit world. After losing her parents in a car accident, she witnessed her mother's soul being abducted by an evil spirit. She now travels to haunted locations seeking clues about her mother's whereabouts.

Keitaro Gentoga
A first-year student at Reiou University. A powerful medium who once suffered a spiritual attack in middle school, which caused harm to those around him. After two years in isolation, he begins his first step toward recovery as Yayoi's tutor.

Eiko Hozuki
A first-year student at Reiou University, Yayoi's cousin, and Keitaro's childhood friend. Though not spiritually sensitive, she's fascinated by the occult and often joins Yayoi on her ghost-hunting trips.

Ai Kamiyo
A high school first-year girl who becomes Keitaro's new tutoring student. Due to her misfortune, she once caused her brother's death—a past that continues to haunt her.
