Looking back, it seems like ccdx was the only one that brought up that point (number 2, and to a lesser extent 1 and 3).

Hmmm, just realized that I haven't voted yet.

Group A Final
L, Death Note [ Video Clip ]
vs.
Shikamaru Nara, Naruto [ Video Clip ]

While Shikamaru probably is overmatched here, I feel he's too strong a competitor to be totally wiped out, hence he gets my vote here.

Group B Final
The Count of Monte Cristo, Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo [ Video Clip ]
vs.
Horo the Wise, Spice and Wolf [ Video Clip ]

This match-up features what I feel are the two weakest competitors still left in the tournament. As much as I'm a fan of Horo, I think she's already gone one round farther than she should have, and The Count's revenge-focused execution is just too smooth to deny.

Yay, L won, and comfortably at that.

My Minigame hopes are still alive, barely.

Now its Lelouch versus Johan, and Light versus Aramaki; cue Eye of the Tiger, or maybe Duel of the Fates. If you don't like those, you can always supply your own "Epic Fight Music". In fact, I encourage you to do so.

You may find it amusing that aside from the three people currently at the top of the minigame, you're the only other one at this point who has a possibility of taking first.

Amusing? More like shocking; aren't I in ninth position or something?

No doubt that my pick of Johan to win it is responsible. Unfortunately, I'm not at the same computer that I store the Minigame downloads on, so I can't check at the moment. But anyway, it isn't going to happen; in my opinion there is no way that Johan is going to get past the winner of Group D. Even if he gets past Lelouch (it is possible), I won't get enough points from his victory to snag first place before he's brutally disposed of. That's my take on it.

Needless to say, I don't place very much stock in Johan. If only I had known what he was truly like earlier, then I might have picked someone good. Of course, if I had, then I probably wouldn't be still in the running to becoming America's Next Top Model winning the Minigame. Them's the breaks.

That big "thunk" you heard was me dropping the ball by utterly forgetting to set this up before going to bed last night. Sheesh; I've only been doing this for, what, a few months now? Rolling Eyes

Anyway, official score updates will go up later in the day (I'm at work now and really not supposed to be working on this), but the winners of Groups A and B should be pretty clear.

Without further ado, let's get to. . .

Round 5 Groups C and D Finals is now closed.

Two challenging matches. Who will make the final cut?

Guides:
Group C Guide
Group D Guide

Group C Final
Lelouch Lamperouge, Code Geass [ Video Clip ]
vs.
Johan Liebert, Monster [ Video Clip ]

Winner: tie
Total: 15-15

Group D Final
Light Yagami, Death Note [ Video Clip ]
vs.
Aramaki Daisuke, Ghost in the Shell franchise [ Video Clip ]

Winner: Aramaki
Total: 18-12

Group C: Lelouch Lamperouge vs. Johan Liebert
Voting for: Lelouch Lamperouge
Reason: I don't think he deserves to be in the game still (but that goes for most of the current contenders), but he's much smarter than Liebert, who is just scary.

Group D: Light Yagami vs. Daisuke Aramaki
Voting for: Daisuke Aramaki
Reason: Hello? This is Aramaki we're talking about. He's lightyears ahead of any dumb notebook-wielding kid/notebook opponent.

Lelouch gets my vote, I think he still deserves to be here.

Group D Final
Light Yagami, Death Note [ Video Clip ]
vs.
Aramaki Daisuke, Ghost in the Shell franchise [ Video Clip ]

This is a closer match in some ways in my head, but I still have to vote for Light. I think he is the better choice still.

Lelouch for the same reason that Kimiko_o gave.

Group D Final
Light Yagami, Death Note [ Video Clip ]

Aramaki Daisuke, Ghost in the Shell franchise [ Video Clip ]

Aramaiki because I think that he's smarter in the long run.

I wonder who deserves to be in the game then? If Lelouch, Johan, Light, Shikamaru, The Count, Horo don't deserve then who? Some people were saying L too so from 8 contestants only 1 or 2 deserve to be here?

Only person who i think it doesn't deserve is The Count but i don't really know Shikamaru and Horo so can't say anything about them. Lelouch proves his intelligence more than every other competitor, Light and L also proved it alot of times, while The Count, Daisuke and Johan didn't really had many moments on screen. Also why would Johan be such a weak competitor? He's the best manipulator i ever seen in an anime and i haven't seen anyone better than him in the entire contest. The fact that he's crazy doesn't make him less smarter. Also the way Johan and Daisuke demonstrate their intelligence is more realistic than how the other remaining characters do it. They are also 2 of the 3 characters who only have their brain and no superpowers (the 3rd one would be L).

Group C Final
Voting for: Johan Liebert, Monster

Reasons: I actually was expecting to vote for Lelouch, but I ended up changing my mind. The more I hear about Johan, the more interesting he seems.

Though I must say, his clip is a perfect example of why I had suggested giving explanations about the clips after the Duos tournament. I tried to watch it, but without knowing ANYTHING that was going on, I turned it off because I didn't think it would actually help me. This is the number one reason I don't bother watching the clips.

Group D Final
Voting for: Light Yagami, Death Note

Reasons: None of the reasoning given for Aramaki have convinced me to change (unlike the reasoning for Johan).

Group C Final
Lelouch Lamperouge, Code Geass [ Video Clip ]
vs.
Johan Liebert, Monster [ Video Clip ]

Johan Liebert was able to curry out his plans, most of which succeeded. The fact he could not rely on magical power and deus ex machina appearance of super-duper Gundams to aid him, makes him a worthier candidate in my eyes.

Group D Final
Light Yagami, Death Note [ Video Clip ]
vs.
Aramaki Daisuke, Ghost in the Shell franchise [ Video Clip ]

Aramaki VOTE CHANGED

Fair fight, but I'd have to give it to Johan Liebert.

Group D Final
Light Yagami, Death Note [ Video Clip ]

Aramaki Daisuke, Ghost in the Shell franchise [ Video Clip ]

Not a fair fight. Aramaki Daisuke's intellect beats up Light Yagami's and takes its lunch money.

C Final : Johan

His plan spans over a decade. Lelouch's good, but I doubt he could hold up to Johan.

D Final : Aramaki

Light, as a contrived intellect, cannot hold a candle to Aramaki.
