Anime of Komata Mikami's 4-panel manga about computer club girls to ship this year

North American anime licensing company Sentai Filmworks announced on Monday that it acquired the Yuyushiki television anime series. The 13-episode anime will be "available soon through select digital outlets with a home video release to follow later this year."

The series adapts Komata Mikami's original Yuyushiki four-panel manga. The story follows the school life of three girls in the data processing club: Yuzuko, Yukari, and Yui.

The main cast of the anime includes Minami Tsuda (Pretty Rhythm Dear My Future's Karin, Fractale's Phryne) as Yui, Risa Taneda (Oreshura's Kaoru yuui, Say, "I Love You".'s Asami Oikawa) as Yukari, and Rumi Ookubo (Pretty Rhythm Dear My Future's Mia, Yuruyuri's Chinatsu) as Yuzuko.

Kaori (episode director on Code:Breaker, .hack//Quantum) is directing the series at Kinema Citrus. Natsuko Takahashi (Moyashimon, Tokyo Magnitude 8.0) is supervising the scripts and Hisayuki Tabata (main animator on Accel World, animation director on Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion) is designing the characters.

The anime premiered in Japan on April 9, and Crunchyroll is streaming the anime into several countries as it airs in Japan.
