Manga creator Sana Kirioka launched a new manga titled Rikka Kitan in Kodansha's Comic Days app on Monday. The manga's first compiled book volume is listed with an August 20 release.

The manga centers on Tōma, a wolf beastman who works as patrolman keeping the peace in the city of Edo. One night, he helps a girl named Rikka, who is being chased by unknown assailants. He learns from Rikka that she is a noble lady that hails from the land of Izumo, bearing a secret that has painted a target on her. Tōma decides to shelter Rikka. Tired of a life on the run, Rikka envies the quiet life that Tōma lives. However, as this is Tōma's first time living with a girl, their lives become anything but peaceful.

Kirioka launched the Taisho Otome Otogi Banashi manga in Shueisha's Jump SQ. magazine in 2015, and the fifth and final volume shipped in October 2017. Kirioka serialized the Showa Otome Otogi Banashi sequel manga on Shueisha's Shonen Jump+ website and app, and Shueisha published the manga's fifth and final volume in July 2020.

The manga is inspiring a television anime adaptation that premiered in October 2021. Funimation streamed the anime.

Kirioka drew a spinoff manga for the series titled Taisho Otome Otogi Banashi: Enseika no Shokutaku (A Pessimist's Dining Table), which ran on the Shonen Jump+ website and app from July to December 2021.
