| Ghost in the Shell (manga) | Masterpiece | This is just one of those mangas that stands out above all the rest. Shirow is a genius. His work is absolutely sublime. I will be reading both mangas over and over. There is action, sex, political intrigue, sublime philosophy, and forward sci-fi to last for the *next* twenty years. This one is the Masterpiece manga by which all others should be judged. |
| Ghost in the Shell 2: Man-Machine Interface (manga) | Masterpiece | As in the first GitS manga, this stands out above all other manga. It is the manga by which all others should be judged. Shirow is a genius. It is quite complex and requires the reader to sit up and concentrate. It isn't for the faint of brain or for someone who looks for a light-hearted reading experience in manga. But it is brilliant and well worth the time and effort. |

| Angel Sanctuary (manga) | Bad | I began to read this thinking that the incest wouldn't squick me out. I was wrong. Despite the wonderful story and the beautiful illustration, I just can't read it. It's really a shame that such a cool story has to be ruined by something as harmful as incest. |

| Death Note (manga) | Bad | One of the most idiotic mangas I've read in a long time. The characters, which started out as interesting, became tiresome and stereotypical, full of themselves and ridiculous. All of the professional adults in the world were beyond idiotic, something I found very hard to swallow. Somehow a stupid, silly child was able to best all of them using rudimentary police techniques and guess-work. Ther barely-legal, stereotypical yaoi-boy-toy best police detective reminded me of Michael Jackson, which squicked me right out. The excuses for allowing the children to spend time alone for sexual undertones were eye-rollingly bad. Skips and jumps in the plot were even worse. I finally gave up on this one well along in the story, very close to the important death. If you like good story telling with characters that ring true and a plot with no gaping potholes, stay far, far away from this one. Bleh. |

| Trigun (manga) | Very good | I'm not finishing the series because there are far too many other mangas out there to read and Trigun is too close to the anime. I've seen the anime and feel like I'm just repeating the experience. I'd rather spend my time (and money) reading something else. |
| Tsubasa, RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE (manga) | Weak | Beautiful to look at, but OI!, what a feckin' mess. The most confusing plot line I've ever laid my eyes on. It's not because of CLAMP's character line, because I'm fine with XXX-holic. I wince at every new page in Tsubasa. I just gave up. |
| xxxHOLiC (manga) | Decent | I've decided not to waste anymore time on this one. This sort of manga just isn't my bag. It's too shojou for me. Too lite and airy. The characters seem to move without purpose and the plots seem to have no serious undertones. I thought it was good, but it just isn't for me. |
