Kakao Entertainment's long-running webtoon Shark, which began serialization in 2016, is seeing a resurgence in popularity thanks to its new live-action series adaptation. The original series has amassed over 190 million cumulative views in Korea.

Following the May 15 release of the live-action series Shark: The Storm, Kakao reported on May 29 that the webtoon saw over 200,000 daily views and an elevenfold increase in revenue.

Shark: The Storm, which is the sequel to the 2021 film Shark: The Beginning, expands the universe into a serialized format and continues the story of Woo-sol Cha (played by Min-seok Kim), who has trained to become a professional MMA fighter after his release from prison. His opponent is Woo-yong Hyun (played by Hyun-wook Lee), a ruthless villain whose violent showdown with Woo-sol drives the central conflict.

The story follows Woo-sol's evolution from a survivor to a protector, fighting not only for his own life but to defend those he cares about.

Both Shark: The Beginning and Shark: The Storm currently do not have an official English release.

The webtoon Shark, created by Woon and Woo-seop Kim, has been serialized since 2016. Currently there is no English version available.
