Nintendo announced on Tuesday that it is adding the 2005 Chibi-Robo! GameCube game to the Nintendo Classics service available via the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack paid membership service for Nintendo Switch 2 on August 21.
The company describes the game:
Chibi-Robo is a four-inch-tall robot who's arrived at the Sanderson house with the goal of helping the family get the most out of life and find happiness. Day or night, he'll help however he can, whether that's by cleaning or looking for lost items. In this chibi action-adventure title originally released for the Nintendo GameCube™ system in 2006, you'll aim for the top of the Chibi-Rankings by gathering Happy Points and Moolah (aka money)! It's rumored that Chibi-Robo will become Super Chibi-Robo if he reaches the top of the rankings...but between a daughter who only speaks in the language of frogs and toys that come alive when humans aren't around, Chibi-Robo has his work cut out for him in the mystery-packed Sanderson house!
Skip Ltd. developed the original game with Nintendo for GameCube in 2005. The sequel game Chibi-Robo! Park Patrol launched for Nintendo DS in 2007. Two more sequels, Chibi-Robo! Photo Finder and Chibi-Robo! Zip Lash, launched for Nintendo 3DS in 2013 and 2015, respectively.
GameCube games that launched with the service include The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, Soul Calibur II featuring exclusive character Link from The Legend of Zelda series, and F-Zero GX. Multiplayer games support up to four players locally or online. The games feature clearer image quality and higher resolution than the original games. Players can also customize controls. Other games teased to come soon to the service are Super Mario Sunshine, Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, Pokémon Colosseum, Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness, Super Mario Strikers, and the original console's launch title Luigi's Mansion.
There is also a new wireless GameCube controller for Switch 2 that became available for purchase for Nintendo Switch Online members upon the console's launch on June 5. The controller features a C button, which activates GameChat, a features for connecting via voice chat with other players.
