Topco Media Announces AI-Based Short-Form Animation Service for Webtoons
posted on by Wonhee Cho

Topco Media, the parent company for the Korean webtoon platform Toptoon, announced on September 3 that it will introduce short-form animation services for webtoons using its proprietary AI technology.
According to the company, the new service is designed to maintain collaborative structures with creators while providing subscribers with an enhanced immersive experience. The launch is scheduled for later this month.
The service will allow readers to move beyond static viewing by experiencing webtoons with added motion effects. Premium subscribers will also gain access to special episodes and AI-produced short animations, expanding the works beyond webtoons into animated content.
The company expects the offering to establish itself as a hybrid form of content consumption that combines video and interactivity, moving beyond traditional reading experiences.
Kakao Entertainment launched "Helix Shorts," a new AI-powered service that automatically generates short-form video content based on webtoons, on April 22 for all Kakao Page users.
WEBTOON introduced Video Episodes — a new feature that adapts some of the platform's most popular series into short-form video with voice acting, sound, and motion — last month.
