Nintendo Museum Opens Exhibit on Concept Art, Development Materials

Exhibit features materials from Super Mario, Zelda, Animal Crossing, more


The Nintendo Museum announced on Wednesday a new art gallery on the second floor of the museum's Exhibition Building 1. The museum notes, "Visitors can explore a wide range of game artwork, including character illustrations and concept art.”

Original character artwork and select development materials from a variety of Nintendo franchises, including Super Mario, The Legend of Zelda, Animal Crossing, and more” will be exhibited.

The Nintendo Museum opened in October 2024. It shows past Nintendo products and serves "as a way to share Nintendo's product development history and philosophy with the public."

Tickets to the museum are sold via a randomly selected drawing and must be purchased in advance through the Nintendo Museum's website. Tickets are 3,300 yen for adults, 2,200 yen for students in junior high school and high school, 1,100 yen for students in elementary school, and free of charge for preschoolers and younger (about US$22.20, US$14.80, and US$7.40 respectively). The Nintendo Museum is open between 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and is closed on Tuesdays (Wednesdays if Tuesday is a national holiday), national holidays, and between December 30-January 3.
